This German young woman who found solace in Islam is now called Mariam. He is also fasting in the month of Ramadan.
German expatriate Martina Oberholzner, now known as Mariam, is observing Ramadan for the first time in Dubai after converting to Islam earlier this year, Khaleej Times reported. The 26-year-old found solace in the teachings of her new faith by studying the German version of the Holy Quran.
At the age of 14, Martina Oberholzner went to a mosque in her hometown of Munich.
Recalling that time, Mariam says, I was greeted with sincerity and warmth in the mosque and I was overwhelmed by it. The compassion I felt there left a lasting impression on me.
Over time Maryam associated herself more with Muslim friends and acquaintances. He said, "What attracted me the most about them was that they were always the kindest, friendliest and most helpful people, which was one of the main reasons for my acceptance of Islam."
Mariam visited Bali, Indonesia for a few weeks in mid-2023. And there he unexpectedly immersed himself in Islamic culture.
Mariam then returned to Germany in August last year to visit her family. But the idea of going back to Dubai remained in his mind. Determined to return, Mariam then started applying for jobs again and finally got a good one.
Dubai
Finally, in October 2023, Mariam moved to Dubai. As soon as he started reading the Quran here for the first time, he felt an indescribable sensation.
Recalling that, he said, I cannot express that feeling. After reading only 50 pages, I realized in my heart that I want to accept Islam.
Mariam's journey ended with her martyrdom at Kalema on a Friday earlier this year.
